Herb Stop Philosophy
Firstly, The Herb Stop values a quality herbal product and the foundation of producing a high quality product starts with the environment. Our factory is located in Pine, Arizona, high in the mountains, where air quality is one of the best in the world. Our rural community values ethical businesses and has embraced our company since the beginning. We are grateful to them.
Secondly, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has qualified us as a cruelty-free company. None of our products have been tested on animals, instead each member of our organization tests every product on themselves.
Thirdly, our Swiss-trained founder carefully creates and/or approves every product we sell. Her work as an herbalist for over 38 years creating herbal products, as a teacher, entrepreneur and researcher is immensely valuable to our organization.
Our Story
The Herb Stop was founded in 1992 by a person whom our entire organization admires. Our founder, Leilah Breitler, was born and raised in Switzerland, where her days were filled experiencing nature and plants. One of her grandfathers was an award-winning horticulturist and the other an accomplished old-time pharmacist. Her grandmother was an herbalist and a woman of great wisdom. When Leilah was diagnosed with a terminal illness, she was hospitalized and given 6 months to live. Her grandmother came to her rescue, traveling with Leilah to a remote village to visit an elderly herbalist and healer who completed an iridology exam and began giving Leilah herbal treatments. After a short time Leilah recovered and has been clear of her past illness since 1967.
Showing her gratitude for what herbs had done for her coupled with her longing to be involved with nature lead her to complete courses and receive a diploma in Pharma-Assistance. This educational program gave her the necessary tools to become a well trained herbalist and healthcare professional. Her education continued when she married a surgeon and fell into the role of an operating room assistant, giving her a view of the opposing side of medicine.
Yearning to return to her roots, Leilah enrolled in the Canadian College of Natural Healing where Dr. Dorothy Marshall was her primary professor. At this college Leilah received certification in Iridology, Herbology, Reflexology and Spectrotherapy.
In 1992 Leilah's gifts became a reality, when she moved to Arizona and embarked on an adventure which lead to the opening of the very first Herb Stop store in a small 300 square foot location. From there The Herb Stop expanded into franchising and manufacturing of herbal products of utmost quality. Each of our products are created and/or tested by Leilah to ensure quality.
