Top 13 Ways To Use Essential Oils

Essential oils can be used in many different ways for your health and well-being. Here are my top 13 ways these fantastic scents:

Massages
Always blend essential oils with a pure vegetable oil, such as grapeseed, jojoba, sweet almond oil. Blend between 10 – 15 drops of essential oil with one tablespoon of carrier oil, or lotion. Never apply “neat” (without diluting first).

Facial Steam
Add 10 - 15 drops to 2 oz of distilled water and steam your face for about 5 minutes (keep your eyes closed).

Facial Mask
Combine 5 - 15 drops of essential oils to about 3 tablespoons of yoghurt, clay, or nourishing oils, such as argan, hazelnut, or jojoba.

Steam Inhalation
For nasal congestion, flu, coughs, etc. add 2 - 5 drops of essential oil, such as eucalyptus, to a bowl of hot water. Cover the head and bowl with a towel and breathe deeply for a minute, then repeat. Sitting in a sauna is another way of inhaling essential oils.

Hair Care
Add 20 - 50 drops of essential oils to your shampoo or conditioner. For a scalp massage add 5 – 15 drops to 2 oz of vegetable oil and massage the scalp.

Bath
An aromatherapy bath is very relaxing and beautifying. A bath can also treat a wide rage of conditions, such as skin problems, muscular aches, rheumatism and arthritis, or a cold. Add 5 – 10 drops to a vegetable oil and pour in the bathwater.

Foot Bath
Add 5 drops of essential oil to a foot bath, to refresh tired and painful feet, or to treat fungus.

Diffuser
There are many ways to diffuse essential oils into the air, electric diffusers, or a diffuser that uses a candle to heat up the oil. Essential oils can also be added to humidifiers to disinfect during cold season (please read manufacturer’s instructions).

Laundry
Your clothing will have a wonderful scent if you add a few drops to your last rinse water. Or, sprinkle a few drops on to a cloth and toss into the dryer.

Housecleaning
This is the spray cleaner we use at The Herb Stop to clean and disinfect surfaces. The essential oils have strong anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties as well as being tough degreasers. Their refreshing scent permeates our entire working environment. Everyone that enters can sense the calming and healing effect.

                            6 oz distilled water

                                2 oz clear alcohol (Vodka)

¼ tsp lemon, lime or grapefruit essential oil

                                10 drops tea tree oil

    Car Diffuser
Compact stylish diffusers use a light warming unit to gently vaporize the essential oils throughout your car. Just add a few drops of essential oils to the pad and plug it into a 12V plug, no water required. It emits the aroma throughout the car.

    Perfume
Essential oils can also be applied as a perfume behind the ears, décolletée, or wrist. This is a better choice to the many perfumes made from chemicals and pheromones. Wearing essential oils as perfume or cologne gives you not only a beautiful fragrance, but also wonderful emotional and physical support.

    Aromatherapy Jewelry
Bracelets and pendants are made with lava beads, to which you can apply your favorite essential oils. The scent will last for days. I added jasmine essential oil to my bracelet and the scent lasted for more than 2 weeks. You can also hang your lava bead pendant from your car's rear view mirror.
