As the season changes, embracing a cleanse or detox helps you reset for the new season and reach new health goals.
An autumn cleanse is traditionally performed in three stages, starting with blood cleansing, followed by colon cleansing, then the elimination of excess mucus from the body. Once completed, this cleanse can help you feel like a new person! Before starting your cleanse, we recommend speaking with a medical professional, especially if you have existing health conditions or take medication.
Many feel that they have more energy after a cleanse, improved digestion, glowing skin, and an improved mood with overall better mental clarity—all things most of us can benefit from! Let’s dive into some of our best detoxifying remedies and the research behind them.
Red Clover
Red clover is traditionally used as a blood cleanser and is frequently used to support the symptoms associated with osteoporosis, arthritis, women’s health issues, and heart disease.
Recent studies have backed up many of these claims, including a 2015 study on healthy menopausal women. Red clover supplementation over 12 weeks was found to have positive effects on bone health.
Another study found that red clover extract improved the health of postmenopausal women’s scalp, hair, and skin. Mood, sleep, tiredness, and libido were also noted to improve in many study participants.
We love our Red Clover Capsules and Red Clover Tea to support a natural detoxification this autumn.
Another great option is our Decelleration Tea, which supports the purification of the liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system, allowing them to rid the body of toxins more effectively. This tea contains red clover along with flaxseed oil, buchu leaf, tea tree essential oil, and other detoxifying herbs.
Dandelion
Dandelion leaf is rich in vitamins and minerals and may support urinary function and better circulatory health, making it an excellent step in renewing yourself.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, dandelion reduces inflammation, which can protect your body against serious health problems, such as heart disease and cancer. It can even help support blood pressure and acts as a natural diuretic, making it a superior option for cleansing the system.
Studies have shown that dandelion has a protective effect on the liver due to its antioxidant activity. Researchers even concluded that dandelion may protect against liver and renal inflammation and injury.
Interested in dandelion leaf? Try our nourishing Dandelion Leaf Tea or our Dandelion Leaf Capsules, which support healthy urinary function along with providing many beneficial vitamins.
Buckthorn
Buckthorn has many traditional uses, including cleansing the colon and supporting a healthy liver. Buckthorn contains vitamin E, healthy fats, and carotenoids—all key nutrients that can protect liver cells from damage.
A 2020 study found that buckthorn may protect against alcoholic liver disease and balance the gut microbiota. Another study isolated compounds from buckthorn and found that some active components of buckthorn reduced the risk of liver injury and inflammation in animals.
For promoting a healthy colon and liver cleanse, we recommend our All Seasons Cleanse Tea, which contains buckthorn, red clover, dandelion leaf, and milk thistle. All of these herbs are mineral-rich and support healthy liver function. It’s caffeine-free, supports gentle bowel movements, and multiple herbs in this tea have diuretic properties, making it perfect for cleansing the body!
Licorice Root
If you’re struggling with chronic fatigue or menopausal symptoms, licorice root is our recommendation for an autumnal detox. It can stimulate your adrenal function, improving energy levels, without leaving you spent.
Research has shown that licorice contains multiple compounds that may help alleviate menopausal symptoms. Additionally, a 2023 study found that some of the flavonoids in licorice helped relieve peptic ulcers by decreasing inflammation, improving the gut microbiome, and increasing mucus production.
Lastly, researchers have reported that licorice root has similar properties to antacids and may be more effective at decreasing symptoms such as heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux than typical antacids.
For a gentle cleanse, try our Sweet Liver Tea, which is warming, sweet, and spicy, featuring herbs such as licorice and dandelion root to support improved liver function, circulation, and even reduced PMS symptoms.
For a more targeted approach, try our Licorice Root Extract or our delicious Organic Licorice Root Tea, which aids digestion and encourages better adrenal health.
Caution: In large doses Licorice can cause potassium depletion and sodium retention resulting in symptoms of hypertension, edema, headache, vertigo.
Triphala
Triphala is a traditional mixture of three dried fruits native to India. These herbs promote healthy detoxification and provide a wide range of nutrients, including vitamin C, amino acids, and flavonoids.
Since triphala is high in antioxidants, it may reduce the risk of some diseases, including some types of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and premature aging. Research has also shown that triphala can improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels in healthy individuals.
Another study found that triphala effectively reduced blood glucose levels and lipid profiles. The patients receiving triphala in this study also experienced a noteworthy decrease in body weight and BMI with no serious side effects reported.
Overall, triphala is a potent herbal combination that offers many potential health benefits to those interested in refreshing and detoxifying their body.
Try our Triphala Capsules for an easy way to incorporate this herbal remedy into your day-to-day routine.

Hi Natalie, Thank you for the helpful information about detoxing. Would you say that dandelion root tea has equal benefits to dandelion leaf tea? I’m not sure of the different healing properties of the root versus the leaf. Thank you!
