The sinuses are situated behind the bridge of the nose, the upper nose, inside each cheekbone, and above the eyes. Sinus problems can be caused by bacterial and viral infections, allergies, and oftentimes from fungal infections. The warm, dark, moist and undisturbed locations of the sinus are a perfect breeding ground for yeast, mold, fungus and other organisms.

Feeling cold and chilled can also affect the health of the sinuses. Studies have shown that there is a link between feeling chilled and viral infections. If we become chilled, this causes a pronounced constriction of the blood vessels in the nose and shuts off the warm blood that supplies the white cells that fight infection.
