  What makes Darjeeling teas so special?
  
  To answer this question, we travel back to 1841 when a Chinese variety of tea, Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, was first planted in Darjeeling. This varietal, characterized by smaller leaves and unique genetics, thrives in the Darjeeling terroir producing light, flavorful teas with a unique muscatel character that is not possible in other black teas, and more layered and complex nuance than many green teas. Thanks to the high growing altitude, they're also abundant in antioxidants which scientific studies are reviewing for their benefits in combating various human ailments.
  
  As of 2004, the term "Darjeeling Tea" serves as a registered geographical indication. This means that only teas grown and manufactured in the region may use the name "Darjeeling", much the same way that true Champagne must come from France's Champagne region.

Suggested Use

• Drink 1 cup as desired. 

Brewing Instructions

• Steep 1 teaspoon in 1 cup of freshly boiled water for 3-5 minutes.  Strain and drink warm.
• Add milk and sweetener if desired.
• Try this tea over ice.
• Do not microwave.
